Unlikely Visitor While Chumming

It wasn't the visitor I was expecting while chumming three miles out.  He landed on my knee and wouldn't move so I took the opportunity to see how close he would let me get with the super macro lens.

It's worth clicking the photos for the larger view.

Besides the rays, skates, small sharks and the occasional sea turtle,
the visitor I was hoping for turned down my invitation
again.

  1. Awesome close up. Too bad Mr. Brown didn't want to cooperate.

    1. Thanks, Chuck. This was probably my 8th time trying in the last 3 or 4 years. Mr. Brown is bound to stop by eventually :)

  3. That was one tough Dragonfly to hold his ground with about ten thousand Rob Chois staring down at him... heck, all those Cobes wouldn't come near with just one Rob in the yak ;)... nice shots, lol...

  4. Three miles is nothing, we were 20 miles off the Persian Gulf when a swarm of them got to us on the flight deck. Granted it was better than the time we got locust.
